service projects
Elizabethton Boy Scout Troop 129 along with Cub Scout Pack 29 collected
over 3,000 non-perishable food items from doorsteps and
porches during the national Scouting for Food campaign on Saturday. The
scouts braved the cold and the rain early Saturday morning
to collect the food, which was given to Hale Community Ministries to fill
food baskets for needy families. Scouting for Food is a
project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement. Through
initiative and hard work, the Boy Scouts have developed
a framework that can help local food pantries feed thousands of needy local
residents with emergency aid.
